Martinez, Libreria Martinez Books and Art Gallery
has been recognized nationwide for showcasing Latino authors and
artists. In 2004, Mr. Martinez was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship
for "fusing the roles of marketplace and community center
to inspire appreciation of literature and preserve Latino literary

October 9th, 2007 this landmark venue hosted a booksigning for
the first edition of America Libre. The event, coordinated
by Veronica Jacuinde of La
Luz Public Relations, featured a lively Q&A session and
a performance by 10-year-old singing sensation Kaamilah Thomas.
